There seems to be some confusion regarding where the next 2006 Olympics are taking place. Is it Turin or Torino? Some investigative work I’ve done.
Per the official Torino 2006 website, they’re calling it “Torino.”
However, the Italy Tourism website seems conflicted, identifying the city as Turin and Torino in a variety of places.
The official Olympics website seems to own up to the actual city name even though the Torino logo is plastered everywhere.
It’s all very confusing and suspicious. No one seems to know what to do. So it was not an NBC decision to rename the Italian city but that the Italians are just confused. Anyone have any other insight on this city name insanity?
